DAY 1 - DEPART
Board your transatlantic flight to Rome. Meals are served on board.
DAY 2 - ROME - INTRODUCTION
Upon arrival at the Rome Airport you will be transferred to the hotel for a welcome dinner and 4 nights accommodation. If time permitting introduction to the city – guided tour of Rome by night.
DAY 3 - ST. PETER THE ROCK
After Mass at St. Peter enjoy a guided tour of the Basilica built on the site where the Prince of the Apostles was martyred and buried, continue to the Papal Grottoes, Vatican Museums & Sistine Chapel. The balance of the day at leisure.
DAY 4 - MARTYRS’ BLOOD IS THE SEED OF NEW CHRISTIANS
Morning Mass will be celebrated at the catacombs of St. Calixtus. Continue to St. Paul Outside the Walls the burial site of the apostle of Gentiles and than visit the shrine of Tre Fontane where St Paul was beheaded. On the way to the hotel stop by the Grotto of the Three Fountain, well known Roman Marian shrine, where Mary -Rosa Mistica appeared in 1947 to an unbeliever
DAY 5 - CHRISTIAN ROME - MAJOR BASILICAS
Sightseeing tour of “Christian Rome”. Visit St John Lateran and proceed to Scala Sancti, the Holy Stairs that Jesus had climbed before being sentenced to death. Continue to the minor basilica of the Holy Cross where you can venerate the relics of Christ’s Crucifixion brought to Rome by St. Helena. After lunch see St Mary Major the first Marian shrine in the Catholic Church where we celebrate Mass.
DAY 6 – ASSISI - ST FRANCIS
Continue your journey through Italy heading for Assisi for 2 night accommodation. Explore the Basilica of St Francis, the burial place of the patron saint of Italy and the Basilica of St. Clare. Afternoon Mass at St. Mary of the Angels Basilica where St Francis spent most of his life. Here we visit the Chapel of Transition, Portiuncola, the rose garden, and the cave where the saint retired for prayer.
DAY 7 - CASCIA - ST RITA
We leave for the full day excursion to Cascia to see the Eucharistic Miracle and the Sanctuary of Saint Rita, the saint of the impossible. Dinner and overnight in Assisi
DAY 8 - LORETO – CASA SANTA
Depart for Loreto, the main Marian shrine in Italy, with visit to the Basilica where part of the home of the Holy Family of Nazareth now stands. After Mass the balance of the day at leisure.
DAY 9 - LORETO DAY AT LEISURE
After morning Mass at Casa Santa full day at leisure in Loreto. Optional trip to the Adriatic Coast to relax at the seaside.
DAY 10 - LANCIANO - “TAKE AND EAT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY”
Transfer to Lanciano, visit the church of 8th century Eucharistic Miracle where celebrate Mass. Proceed to San Giovanni Rotondo, the shrine of Padre Pio for 3 nights accommodation.
DAY 11 - SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO - ST PADRE PIO
Today, visit the sites of Padre Pio’s life including his tomb and cell. Celebrate Mass in the convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie where Padre Pio lived. Afternoon free.
DAY 12 - ST MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL SHRINE
Drive to Monte Sant’ Angelo to celebrate morning Mass. Visit the shrine of San Michele, where the Archangel appeared in apparition in the 5th century. Afternoon at leisure in San Giovanni Rotondo, chance to spend more time with Padre Pio.
DAY 13 - MONTE CASSINO - “ORA ET LABORA”
Travel to Monte Cassino and visit the Benedictine Monastery built in 529 AD. Celebrate Mass by the tomb of St Benedict & St Scholastica and learn more about the monastic tradition. In the afternoon continue to Rome for one overnight.
DAY 14 - DEPARTURE
Transfer to the Airport for your return flight.
