PILGRIMAGE TO MEXICO
OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

 

DAY 1 - Arrival in Mexico City
Board your flight to Mexico City. Meals served on board. Upon arrival meet your guide and transfer to the hotel. Welcome drink. The rest of evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 2 - Mexico City
Morning Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral followed  by a guided tour  of the Cathedral and visit the Tomb of Bishop Zumarraga. After  lunch  break guided sightseeing tour of Mexico City (Zocalo, Palace of the President, Templo Mayor).  The city of Mexico overflows with interesting sites to see, from pre - Columbian to modern and cosmopolitan. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 3 - Mexico City, Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Breakfast. Holy Mass at the Basilica of Our lady of Guadalupe. Visit the Church of the Hill, Monument of the Offerings, Church of the Well and Church of the Indians. Later we visit the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament and the Religious Museum. After Lunch break continue on to Tlatelolco, a site where Juan Diego was baptized. In the evening enjoy folklore dinner at a traditional Mexican restaurant Focolare. Return to hotel. Overnight.

DAY 4 - Tulpetlac - Toetihuacan
After breakfast we travel to Tulpetlac and celebrate Holy Mass at the Shrine of the fifth apparition (Juan Diego's uncle, Juan Bernadino, was cured here). Later we visit the 16th Augustinian Monastery in Acolman.  Later, we continue to the Pyramidsof the Sun and Moon in Teotihuacan. Return to hotel. Dinner. Overnight.

DAY 5 - Tlaxcala - Ocotlan
Breakfast. Full day excursion to Tlaxcala and the Shrine of San Miguel Del Milagro where St. Michael the Archangel appeared to Juan Diego and told him of a miraculous spring. Holy Mass. Continue to Ocotlan, to see the image of Our lady burnt into a tree trunk after she appeared to Juan Diego Bernardino in 1541. The image resides in the beautiful Basilica of Our Lady of Ocotlan. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6 - Tepotzotlan – Tula
Breakfast. Full day excursion to Tepotzotlan. Visit at the ancient Jesuit’s cloister, now transformed into The Museum of Vicekingdom. Holy Mass.  On to the capital of Toltec’s country – Tula, famous for high stone-statues of Toltec warriors. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.

DAY 7 - Cholula - Tonantzintla - Puebla
Breakfast. Drive to Cholula to explore the magnificent Pro-Columbian site, and see the shrine of a “Virgen de Remedios” on the top of a hidden pyramid. Holy Mass. On to the Church of St. Francis with its 365 altars, representing each day of the year and to Tonantzintla, a beautiful example of fusion of Mexican Indian art and Christian religious themes. On to Puebla “the City of Angels”, Mexico’s fourth largest city and considered best preserved from colonial times.  Included sightseeing features the Cathedral and the Rosary Chapel with its stunning tiled and gold-leafed walls and the El Parian market, a Mexican style flea market where quality arts and crafts are sold. Return to Mexico City for dinner and overnight.

DAY 8 - Cacahuamilpa - Taxco
Breakfast. Visit to greatest Caverns at Cacahamilco. Continue to Taxco - the silver town of Mexico. Visit the Church of Santa Prisca.  Free time for visiting silver shops. Dinner and overnight i Taxco.

DAY 9 - Taxco - Acapulco
After breakfast we drive to Acapulco. Holy Mass at the cathedral of Acapulco. Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 10 - Acapulco
Two days at leisure in Acapulco for relaxation, shopping and enjoying this beautiful atmosphere. Dinner and overnight. Wide offer of options including Laguna Coyuca, La Quebrada. Mass to be confirmed.

DAY 11 - Vista Hermosa – Cuernavaca - Mexico City
After breakfast, back to Mexico City. Lunch on the way at Hacienda Vista Hermosa. Leave for excursion to Cuernavaca - the city of eternal spring. Here we visit the Cathedral, its beautiful cloister and its chapels including the outside chapel built for the Aztecs. Holly Mass. Dinner and overnight in Mexico City.

DAY 12 - Departure from Mexico
After breakfast drive to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe; final dedication ceremony. Transfer to airport for your return flight.
